As nice as the talent was at the UA game in Chicago, the Aflac Classic continues to have the best collection of all-american talent in the natino in one game. The early buzz for the 2011 draft is that it could be loaded, and the players on display in this game are a big reason why.
With the hitters on display the previous day during the practice session, the arms took center stage during the Under Armour Game at Wrigley Field. Nick Burdi, Lance McCullers, Bubba Starling, Porter Clayton, John Curtiss and Kyle Smith were particularly impressive.
Check out some scouting notes from the Under Armour game practice held at the University of Illinois-Chicago's field. The rosters are highlighted by two of the top prep players for 2012, Lance McCullers and Addison Reed, as well as Dwight Smith, Dante Bichette, Chris McFarland and Bubba Starling.
Thank you for your patience this summer as you have found your way back to 5 Tool Talk. Follow this short notes column for some links to some of my recent draft-related stories as I continue to look ahead to next year's draft class.
Check out notes from the Breakthrough Series finals game held on July 29, 2010. Deion Williams, Blake Hickman, Mikal Hill, Leland Clemmons, BreShon Kimbell and Alex Santana are all profiled (Deion Williams pictured).
Sam Stafford has had his way in the California Collegiate League the past two summers. Joining him at the league's all-star game this summer were a pair of recent high school draftees and former Aflac All-Americans, Kevin Gausman and Kris Bryant.
